Dear Florence Sawyer Community:

Greetings! I suspect you’ve clicked on my name because you are curious to know about me, and I’m happy to have the opportunity to share a bit about myself, just as I’ll be happy to come to know you during the 2010-2011 school year.

I’m excited to return to the Nashoba Regional School district as it is where I both attended school and began my career in education. I grew up in Stow, on Lake Boone, where, as a child, I spent my free time swimming, skating, riding horses, drawing, reading and hanging out with my friends. I was a student at each of the Stow schools and a graduate of Nashoba Regional High School. After college, I returned to the high school as a teacher. I’ve enjoyed being a teacher for many years. I also love spending time with my husband and being a mom to our two daughters. And, although I replaced horses with dogs, I still enjoy being active outdoors, painting, reading and hanging out with friends.

When offered the opportunity to be an assistant principal at Florence Sawyer and to work with all the members of a community that is so supportive of learning, I was thrilled and couldn’t say yes fast enough! My goal this first year is to listen, learn and lead. I know you have important things to share with me about yourself, your school and your town. And, I hope that I’ll be able to assist you and our school community members to be successful life-long learners.  John Quincy Adams, the sixth President of the United States, once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” My hope is to be that kind of leader.

Please stop by my office in the Emerson wing, come talk to me on the playground, or send me an email to introduce yourself. I’d love to hear what you did this summer, what you’re reading, or what you’re excited about for this school year. I’m looking forward to working with you!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jennifer Mannion
