Interscholastic and Intramural Sports

Interscholastic Sports

Florence Sawyer School has many interscholastic athletic programs for middle school students.  All participants in these programs must have an up-to-date physical (less than 13 months old) on file at the school.  The interscholastic teams, with the exception of Cross Country and Track, may include a tryout process in order to participate.  Interscholastic teams participate in a schedule competing against other schools.  See links below for further information.

NRSD Pet Policy:  The Nashoba Regional School District is committed to providing a high quality educational program to all students in a safe and healthy environment. Therefore, the Nashoba Regional School District will enforce a no pet policy in all district buildings and school grounds, including all athletic fields, at all times. The District will comply with Massachusetts and federal law concerning the rights of persons with guide or assistance dogs.

Schedule (TBD)
Grade Levels: 6-8

The Florence Sawyer Eagles Softball Team is an interscholastic spring sport open to middle school girls (grades 6, 7 and 8).  Tryouts are usually held during the last week of March, games begins after April vacation, and the season usually ends during the first week of June.  In a typical season, we are scheduled to play 12 to 14 games.  Since the sport of softball is weather dependent, games and practices are hard to nail down, but during the season, we practice everyday after school until 5:00 when we don't have a game.

We practice and play our home games on the girls' softball diamond at Memorial Field.  Games begin at 3:30 and athletes are dismissed 15 minutes early when traveling to away games.  Usually half our games are played at home.  Eagles softball is a fastpitch game and, like NRHS Softball, we follow rules set out by the ASA and the MIAA with some modifications for middle school play.
